Martin Collier
Director of the Entwine Centre
SUMMARY
- ► Director: The Entwine Centre (2016-)
- ► Director: The Rince Institute (2013 -2016)
ABOUT MARTIN
Martin’s research interests lie in the broad area of data networks and their applications. His PhD was in the area of telecommunications switching. He has since conducted research on wireless sensor networks, elliptic curve cryptography on embedded systems, routing protocols for wired and wireless networks, software-defined networking and energy-efficient networks. This research has been funded by a range of national and international bodies.
His personal research currently addresses consensus algorithms for edge and IoT networks.
As the Director of the Entwine Centre, his focus is on the efficient large-scale deployment of Internet of Things technology, and the considerable ethical issues such deployments give rise to concerning energy consumption, privacy and security of data, and vulnerability to hacking
